Submit accounts for individual candidates in elections
Obligation to inform personal elections
Individual candidates in political elections must submit to the Auditor-General a statement on the income and expenses of campaigning no later than three months after the election took place. The candidate's accounts shall be endorsed by an auditor or an accounting examiner.
The elections covered are:
Presidential elections
Parliamentary elections
Municipality elections
Primaries of political parties
Candidates with a total income or the total cost of campaigning, which is less than ISK 550,000, do not have to submit a settlement to the State Auditor but are sufficient to submit a declaration that the cost was below the aforementioned threshold. The statement is provided in the submission process.
Individual candidates in policital elections may not receive a higher contribution from a single legal entity or individual than ISK 400,000. The accounts of the candidates shall specify the names of all legal entities that have made contributions as well as the names of the individuals who have made contributions.
