New website of the National Archives of Iceland opened on Ísland.is

Transfer of the City Documentary’s tasks and collection assets to the National Archives

The National Archives is the largest collection of primary sources of information on the history of the Icelandic nation and the development of settlement in Iceland and is therefore the foundation of research, administration and human rights in this country. The National Archives is the archive of the entire nation and the public has access to the archives, both on its website and in its reading room.

On the website, you can learn more about the National Archives, its legal environment, history, goals, activities and administration.
