Please note that the deadline for those responsible for operations to complete the registration for patient insurance in the data portal (gg.sjukra.is) has been extended until February 28, 2025. The deadline for completing the payment of the premium has been extended by regulation of the Minister of Health and it is now until April 30, 2025.

According to the new Act on Patient Insurance No. 47/2024, the patient insurance of self-employed healthcare professionals is transferred from insurance companies to the Iceland Health. The change applies to damages that occur on or after 1 January 2025.

In this appendix, you will find three letters with instructions that have been sent to self-employed healthcare professionals electronically. The first letter was published on 21 November 2024, the second on 17 December 2024 and the third on 10. January 2025. It is requested that self-employed healthcare professionals familiarize themselves with both letters.

The amount of the premium for self-employed healthcare professionals has been determined by a regulation of the Minister of Health.
