The right to call oneself a teacher and to work as one in Iceland is defined in The Act on the education, competency and recruitment of teachers and administrators of preschools, compulsory schools and upper secondary schools, no. 95/2019.
A teacher’s license is a confirmation of the right to teach and to bear the professional title of teacher. The Ministry of Education and Children issues teachers‘ licenses to teachers and provides information about such licenses.
